Toys, books, sandbox and other materials in a child care centre

This web site reflects my professional and research interests in Early Childhood Education and Care (child care). I am Dr. Gordon H. Cleveland, and I teach economics at the Department of Management at the University of Toronto at Scarborough in Toronto, Canada.

Two particular current projects are featured on this site. One is a research study on the role of nonprofit status in assuring the quality of Early Childhood Education and Care services, which I am doing in partnership with Prof. Michael Krashinsky, also with the Division of Management, UTSC. That project is funded by Social Development Partnerships Program, Social Development Canada, Government of Canada.

The second project is a study of issues of quality and compensation in child care centres and regulated family homes, using the You Bet I Care! data set, and is done in partnership with Prof. Douglas Hyatt, of the Division of Management, UTSC. This project is funded by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
